ABOUT DANIEL HOUGHTON
Daniel Houghton directs the Animation Studio at Middlebury College where he teaches 3D Computer Animation and leads small teams of undergraduate students through collaborative animation production projects.
One his latest animation shorts, Estrellita, (or Little Star) tells a piercing story about the constant threat of family separation and deportation for undocumented farmworkers in Vermont. Seen through the eyes of a little girl growing up on a dairy farm, the story begins in an idyllic wonderland of childhood adventure that turns dark when a powerful force raids the farm to capture her father.
His animations have screened internationally in Europe, Asia, Africa; domestically in New York and Los Angeles; and online at The Atlantic, Huffington Post, Wired, PBS and Vimeo Staff Picks. He is currently working on an animated short called The Bone Fish, about a mother of two seeking an abortion.
