With a career focused at the intersection of youth, culture and politics, Luis Calderin has
proven to be creative marketer with serious experience building campaigns that ignite
conversations and shift cultural narratives.
Luis' trajectory is far from what would be described as ordinary. It would seem unlikely that the first person in a family born as an American, raised on the streets of Miami, would then plant his flag in Burlington, VT and later find himself as a player in one of the most important presidential campaigns in history. With no formal path of getting there, he found himself going from Burlington basement house parties, to hosting some of the largest concerts of the 2016 campaign season. Having served as the Director of Arts, Culture and the Youth Vote for Senator Bernie Sanders' 2016 presidential campaign, he helped secure hundreds of surrogates, including artists, designers, filmmakers, photographers, musicians and other cultural leaders committed to representing the interests of young voters.
Calderin also spearheaded a national touring exhibition, curating issue-based art inspired by the political landscape of America in his talk, "Space Time Magic" Luis will make it clear that you do not need a predesigned path or to follow a traditional model to find yourself involved in something that generates serious impact and historical change. Calderin will touch upon key moments of his life, the role of mentorship and most importantly hopes to communicate that you just need to start to have an impact.
